Boogie Stomp!
Off-Broadway at the Elektra Theatre

Something electrifying is happening at the Elektra Theatre, and they go by the names of Bob Baldori and Arthur Migliazza.   These two guys along with 2 grand pianos, a harmonica, a projector screen and an old school amplifier offer up 100 minutes of boogie-woogie pleasure.

In this musical tribute show, you will see piano playing at it’s best.  There is no sheet music.  Just 20 fingers hitting those keys like nobody’s business.  While they both play the piano with expertise, Bob is equally skillful at the harmonica.  At times they play together, and at others they play apart.  The projection screen is used to project images from history of the masterminds behind this music but also project the dueling keyboards where you witness the speed and agility of the finger movements of this dynamic duo.  In between numbers we are given some very interesting history of the music that is described as mixture of boogie-woogie, swing, R&B, blues, stride and rock & roll and this is all sprinkled with lots of shtick.  These guys are both very funny.  When Bob tells us they are going to give us rhythm improvisation and syncopation over the blues we are not sure what to expect, but the result is a foot stomping, vibrating audience that can’t seem to keep still in their seats.   If only they could clear an area of seating and add a dance floor I have no doubt that the audience would be up doing the boogie-woogie as enthusiastically as they were in the sing-a-long opportunities

Whether it’s a piano duet, or the harmonica accompanying the piano, these two are always in perfect groove, and it made for a wonderful evening of entertainment.

If you think the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, these guys have some news for you.  Check out this show before it closes on November 28th.  For tickets and more information visit the Boogie Stomp! website, and check out how you can get discount tickets here.  ThisbroadSway 10/14/2015
