The Dozen Divas Show with Dorothy Bishop

Cabaret at the Metropolitan Room

After  weeks of tragedy and sadness in news I really welcomed the opportunity to sit down and be taken into another world.  A world where everything makes you smile and laugh.  The Dozen Divas Show was in fine form both vocally and spandax’ically’ on this hot Friday night in July and Dorothy Bishop took the stage with some new wigs and some great new additions like Shirley Bassey singing “Diamonds are Forever”

People came from near and far just to catch a glimpse of this dynamic diva doing her thing.  Bishop, a Yale graduate, and classically trained soprano has many faithful followers, present company included, and also has a growing number of groupie  FAN-atics.  No matter how many times  you see this show,  you will find that it changes with the time, keeping up with current events,  and you will never tire of the classic divas that include Barbra, Judy, Liza, Stevie and Cher.  Dorothy executes the parodied songs flawlessly, but will also make sure you know that her voice is no joke.  The girl can blow.

Dorothy’s pet Chihuahua Luther is gaining his own celebrity status.  Dorothy will admit to being stopped on the street, and just when she was ready to sign her autograph she hears.. “ Is that Luther the Singing Chihuahua”?  Can we take a picture with him”?   As Renee Fleming would say, and does in the show..... “Just Joking”.   Most people do recognize the darling duo on the streets of NYC where they live.   Luther put on an exceptional performance on this night, and did not miss one single note.  This was not lost on Teresa Costanzo with her precious little online therapy Chihuahuas and social media super pups Yum Yum, Lollipop and Gumdrop a/k/a  Chi Yum Yum, who came all the way from Orange County, New York to see the Divas and Luther in action.

The celebrity cabaret community came out in support, and spotted in the audience were the beautiful and golden toned songstress Marieann Meringolo, super conductor and American Showstopper Fred Barton, the dreamy Modern Day Vaudevillian Jesse Luttrell and the ever lovely Linda Miller of the Legendary Ladies of Music.   There was not a sad face in the house at the booming standing ovation. Behind the scenes we have Dorothy's talented director,  James Jorden and the multi-talented Carla Lynne Hall is indispensable at keeping the show in perfect sync assisting with costume changes, Luther, and anything else that needs to get done.  The show was streamed live via Concert Window.
