Off-Broadway-at The Atlantic Theater Company

One man's trash is another man's musical! That’s right.  This musical was made entirely from trash.  Maybe I’m stretching the point a little, and there was absolutely nothing trashy about this musical.  I’m dubbing this the Off-Broadway Love Letters with music and dancing.

So how did this all happen?  The trash I refer to is actually scraps of paper containing personal sentiments.  They are letters, notes, lists and other items that people create and randomly
discard.   These are the “Found” items in this musical and the entire story was created around these notes.

While most of the notes were likely serious to their authors, Hunter Bell & Lee Overtree (writers) along with this marvelous cast turned it into sheer comedic delight along with just the right
amount of emotion.   The set was appropriately adorned in a Papier-mâché of letters, the score was sweet and spicy and hip and the cast of 10 were all resplendent.

The story begins and ends with 3 roommates and best friends.  The lead is singing and dancing sensation Nick Blaemire as Davy.    The sweet toned Barrett Wilbert Weed as Denise, and the loveable, and cuddly Daniel Everidge as Mikey D.   We watch as they find silver linings, pursue their dreams, and ultimately learn about what is most important in life.

I was thrilled to get a chance to meet and speak with some of the actors after the show.
Especially the lead Nick Blaemire, who I remember as a cast member of Godspell, where I had my 15 minutes of fame on Broadway as a POG (People of Godspell) producer, and in which he was also terrific.  If you need a whimsical musical transfusion,  you really need go see this before it closes on November 9th.  –ThisbroadSway 10/17/2014
