Hand to God

Off Broadway at The Lucille Lortel Theatre

Let me say a quick few words about Hand to God a play by Robert Askins.

Forget all you know about puppetry. Stephen Boyer brilliantly plays the role of Jason, as well as a demonic puppet who calls himself Tyrone. Jason is a quiet, shy, intimidated boy who recently lost his father. His mother gathers a group of children to make puppets at the church, but something goesterribly wrong with Jason's puppet. It begins to grow a mind of its own, and starts raising hell everywhere! What ensues is laughter, laughter and more laughter!

I can tell you that I laughed so hard at times that the only thing that came out of me was breath...no sound. You might still be able to get a ticket if you RUN to the Lucille Lortel Theatre ('an historic theatre, when the village was the village' a friend tells me). I'm going back once more before it closes this Sunday! Thisbroadsway says the devil made him do it! -thisbroadSway 3/24/2014
