Performance Magic at Joe’s Pub

Who is Shaina Taub, you ask?  I was asking this question myself until recently.  Well you best get used to hearing the name, because in addition to being my new favorite obsession,  she is the future of music, musical theatre, and everyone will know soon enough.  I can’t say it was an accident finding this fresh, new mega talent.  I loved Hadestown, and recall some beautiful female voices, but had no name association.  When I happened upon the As You Like It At Shakespeare in the Park this past summer, there was all this buzz about a young composer who scored the music and was also cast in the productions as “xxx”.  and all the pieces started coming together.

I had to find out more about  ST so I started digging

Her resume far exceeds her 29 or so years, and I wonder where she had the time to accomplish all these things.,

 Old Hats/Twelfth Night/and her latest score to As You Like It for the Public Theatres final performance of Shakespeare in the Park.

Jonathan Groff stepped on stage saying it’s his third time singing with her at Joe’s Pub, and told a story that he actually stalked her until she asked him to be in the show.

Haunting voice that you will try to compare to someone else, but you can’t quite place it, because it is her own.

This is not just your garden variety songwriter.  Shaina is going to write a hit Broadway Musical, and while you are waiting for tickets to become available, you can go see Hamilton, or Dear Evan Hansen.
