How 2 B A New Yorker

The Screening Room Theatre at Planet Hollywood

I was so surprised to hear that this show has been running for 2 years and I never heard of it! Just maybe they like to keep it from us New Yorkers, since there is a lot of goofing on New York being done here.

Let me tell you about this hidden little secret, in the backroom of Planet Hollywood.  For your $59 you are treated to an Italian buffet that includes a salad, Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Parmigiana, Ziti or Spaghetti marinara and cookies and brownies for dessert.   It was all yummy and catered by Buca di Beppo, which is right downstairs (btw, another fun place, if you just want a meal).  Drinks are not included, but I did get a very nice bottle of Chianti that a very nice couple from Detroit agreed to share with me and I believe it was $45 or less.

I would call this more of a comedy act than theatre.  At about the time you are finishing up your meal, two young actors appear and the show begins.  This is a variety show with costumes and props which all revolve around “How to be a New Yorker”.  The incoming joke is “turn on your cell phones and make them as loud as possible”.  The young two-some in the show that I saw was made up of a native New Yorker from Queens and New York transplant from Ohio (who also refers to himself as a third class citizen) stir up laughs from the audience with New
York subjects ranging from pigeons to knishes and it’s all just silly fun.  Whether you are a New Yorker, a New
York transplant or an illegal alien, you will get your moneys worth here! For tickets and information click here
